It's rare to find a successful company with only one man behind everything. More than great products, marketing and financing, it's important that the people behind the scenes have exceptional partnerships. So many promising startups fail because of personal issues among the founders and team members.

Fortunately, since I founded Creatix ten years ago, I have met and continue to work with wonderful people from whom I learned the secrets to lasting business relationships that serve as the catalyst for the growth of our company.

Find people with complementary skills

They say opposites attract, and I believe that to be true. When I was engaged as a freelance graphic designer for different clients, I realized that I excelled at design, strategy, conceptualization and business innovation. On the other hand, my cousin Kamil possessed valuable technical skills that are necessary for executing my ideas. Hence, after talking over a few beers, we decided to become a designer-developer team. Our match set us on the right course to building Creatix, and we've been working together ever since.

Share similar work principles

Even though you and your colleagues have different aptitudes, do still find a common ground. With myself and Kamil, we both believe that with anything we take on, we have to meet the very high expectations we set for ourselves. Being able to refine the art of technology is the mutual driving force in our work. So, all our projects are accomplished with precision and excellence, because we demand only the best for our clients and from ourselves. As partners, we never had to explicitly agree on how we wanted to accomplish our projects. We just instinctively knew that giving less than 100 percent was unacceptable in our company.

Maintain a positive company culture as you grow

Our core team has remained intact concurrently with the aggressive growth of Creatix in the last five years. This is unusual for a startup in the tech industry, which has the highest turnover rate among many industries. Nonetheless, everyone who joined the team has stayed. This includes our local managers based in Chicago, UX/UI designers in Warsaw, Poland, and development staff in Bratislava, Slovakia. The key is maintaining a positive culture no matter how much the organization expands. This entails nurturing our clients' ideas until they flourish and providing a fun work environment that is conducive to collaboration. These values are passed on to every new member and reiterated for every project.

Become one another's support system

When your partners look to other people and places to escape the rigors of working in your company, then you really need to reevaluate your culture. Thankfully, my team understands that in order to deliver our promises, everyone in the group must shine. We don't take away anyone's opportunity to show off his or her abilities. Everyone has something to contribute to a project in order to make it outstanding. However, a person might sometimes need an extra boost of confidence in order to perform his finest work. So, it is imperative that we show faith in our members' capabilities.

Share the same long-term mission

Don't think of your partnerships as convenient, short-term affairs. Rather, they should be long-term commitments to achieving the same goals. In Creatix, our mission is to ensure that our work makes an impact for both our clients and ourselves. It doesn't matter if we are fulfilling assignments for a small company, a medium enterprise or a large corporation. Our mission remains the same. After more than 300 digital projects of different types including websites, mobile apps, e-commerce, loyalty platforms and marketplaces, I am proud to say that our vision remains clear and unified.

My business partners and I have the same DNA that allows us to be constantly curious about how we can solve problems and change the world. Our similar beliefs help us to work harmoniously while our uniquely individual characteristics serve to achieve a balance of talents and perspectives in the company.
